Who we are

We are a small team behind the Stop Smoking: Quit Tracker app. We are not doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, or licensed counsellors. We are informed laypeople who researched the topic carefully and built the tool we wished we had ourselves.

We are not anonymous. You can reach us at support@smokefreetracker.com.

What this site is

  • An informational and educational resource about quitting smoking.
  • A companion to the Stop Smoking: Quit Tracker app, which is a self-tracking tool, not a treatment.
  • A summary of guidance from named public-health sources, written in plain language.

What this site is not

  • It is not medical advice.
  • It is not a treatment plan, a diagnosis, or a substitute for a doctor, midwife, quitline, or therapist.
  • It is not personalised to your medical history, medication, or conditions.
  • It does not prescribe nicotine replacement therapy or any other medication. Those decisions belong with a qualified clinician.

How we research

For each post that touches health, we draft from public-health and clinical sources, not from generic web content. Our primary references are:

  • U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  • U.K. National Health Service (NHS)
  • Smokefree.gov (U.S. National Cancer Institute)
  • Mayo Clinic
  • American Cancer Society
  • Cochrane systematic reviews where available

We try to follow three rules:

  • Cite sources at the foot of every health-related post.
  • Use cautious health language: may, can, often, many people experience, not will, always, guaranteed.
  • Avoid precise numerical claims unless the underlying source actually supports that level of precision.

When to see a real professional

Please talk to a doctor, midwife, pharmacist, or qualified quit-smoking service if:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You are under 18.
  • You have a chronic condition or take regular medication.
  • You are considering nicotine replacement therapy, varenicline, bupropion, or any other quit-smoking medicine.
  • You have severe symptoms: chest pain, severe shortness of breath, coughing up blood, panic that does not pass, or thoughts of harming yourself.

In the U.S., the federal quitline is 1-800-QUIT-NOW. In the U.K., the NHS Quit Smoking service is at nhs.uk/better-health/quit-smoking. In Turkey, the public quitline is 171 (ALO 171, Sigara Bırakma Danışma Hattı).

Updates and corrections

We update posts when public-health guidance changes or when a reader points out a mistake. If you find an error, please email support@smokefreetracker.com with the page URL and what is wrong. We aim to respond within a few days.

Affiliate and commercial relationships

We do not run paid placements, sponsored posts, or affiliate links for nicotine products, medications, or third-party programmes. The site exists to support our own app and to be useful as a public resource.
